The principles required in order to manage successful
projects and organizations, are well understood, although not consistently
well, or widely, applied. Through my own twenty-five year career
in the armed forces, public and private sectors I have come to learn
first-hand how equipping managers and workers with the proper skills
can contribute to the creation of successful programs and successful
people.
It was with this vision that DSA set out to equip
as many professionals as possible with the skills needed to shape
better and stronger organizations and communities.
DSA's good fortune has been to find itself located
in New Brunswick, a province with one of Canada's most advanced
telecommunication infrastructures and one of the most forward thinking
educational communities. This good fortune has allowed DSA to aggressively
adopt distance-learning technologies. We have now been able to reach
out across Canada and the world, to the professionals and managers,
who through accident of geographic situation, or professional constraint,
could not otherwise have accessed the skills and accreditation,
which DSA delivers through its online programs.
This
opportunity to move from being teachers and trainers in our own
back yard, to becoming teachers to the world, is an opportunity
that is uniquely available to Canadian organizations. As Canadians,
we have access to one of the world's best national telecommunication
systems, a highly skilled and highly trained population, and finally,
an enviable international reputation for fairness and intelligence.
